The participation of the students has been a constant in all major processes of educational and social transformation and is one of the most powerful vectors for progress towards an egalitarian and inclusive society. In a context of great progress in terms of cooperation and integration of students’ participation in higher education systems, it is key to delve into new models of democratic governance and to open new approaches focus on students’ participation in four dimensions: governance and management; academic and quality; social, cultural and athletic; equality and inclusion.
The 1st International Conference on Student Participation seeks to address all the dimensions in which student participation develops and can develop within higher education institutions, with a multilevel and multi-stakeholder approach. Therefore, we invite all stakeholders and enthusiasts of students’ participation in higher education to participate in the first edition and submit proposals.
The conference format
The face-to-face conference will take place over three days, October 28th - 30th 2024, in English, in Córdoba and Sevilla. The conference will cover four dimensions of students’ participation:

Equality and inclusion
Multilevel dialogues and Key-note lectures will also take place, as well as a social program.
Submission of Contributions
We invite contributions from participants to submit a proposal for a paper and/or experience:

A paper refers to a presentation delivered by one or more authors. Paper presentations may be done alone or together with more papers in a panel session.

An experience refers to an initiative, project or good practice from any stakeholder in Higher Education related to students’ participation that may be shared in a panel session.
Session proposal format
Information marked with * will be published in the conference program if your proposal is accepted.
- Session title*: this should succinctly reflect your proposed topic.
- Abstract*: a succinct description of the session to allow delegates to assess whether it will meet their needs (maximum 150 words).
- Presenter(s)*: name of speaker (and co-speakers if appropriate), your e-mail address, name of institution, country.
- Category*: choose the dimension of students’ participation where your proposal fit.
- Proposal format: Paper or Experience. Please include here details about materials and other specific details you may need (maximum 100 words).
Publications
Authors who submitted a proposal for the 1st ISPN Conference will be cordially invited to submit their proposal as a contribution for the Publications Book of the Conference.
Important dates
The deadline for abstract submissions is July 31st 2024. You will be advised no later than August 8th 2024 of the decision on your proposal. If your proposal is accepted you will receive a template to prepare your presentation. For further information, please send a message to conference@ispn.info

ISL Interpretation
We are dedicated to fostering inclusivity; therefore, International Sign Language interpretation will be provided during key sessions to ensure all participants can engage fully.

English-Spanish and Spanish-English Interpretation
Simultaneous interpretation between English and Spanish will be available throughout will be provided during key sessions, ensuring effective communication for our multilingual audience. Every participant should bring their ear phones to follow interpretation.

Streaming
The institutional opening/closing, key-note lecture, roundtables and Next Steps for the ISPN, will be streamed live via our social media channels, offering broader access and remote participation opportunities.
Fees and registration
The registration fee covers coffee breaks, lunches, gala dinner (28th) and travel between Congress venues. Starts in Cordoba, ends in Seville.

Students accommodation
Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students may stay in a university lodging (28th - 30th) for a total cost of 35€. The cost includes staying for two nights (28 and 29) and two breakfasts (29 and 30).
